But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
【撒上16:8】 耶西叫亚比拿达从撒母耳面前经过，撒母耳说，耶和华也不拣选他。
Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
【撒上16:9】 耶西又叫沙玛从撒母耳面前经过，撒母耳说，耶和华也不拣选他。
Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
【撒上16:10】 耶西叫他七个儿子都从撒母耳面前经过，撒母耳说，这都不是耶和华所拣选的。
Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.
【撒上16:11】 撒母耳对耶西说，你的儿子都在这里吗？他回答说，还有个小的，现在放羊。撒母耳对耶西说，你打发人去叫他来。他若不来，我们必不坐席。
And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
【撒上16:12】 耶西就打发人去叫了他来。他面色光红，双目清秀，容貌俊美。耶和华说，这就是他，你起来膏他。
And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
【撒上16:13】 撒母耳就用角里的膏油，在他诸兄中膏了他。从这日起，耶和华的灵就大大感动大卫。撒母耳起身回拉玛去了。
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
